Build Your Pigtail 〞 Selection Steps
Step 1 ﹞ Form & Count
▪ Match the splice tray / box port count: small wall box ↙ 4 or 8 ct bundle; ODF / MDU ↙ 12 ct. For 24-fiber trays, choose the loose 24 ct bundle (color + dot marks) when routing stays in-tray, or the 24 ct breakout with jacket when the bundle exits to a panel / out of the cabinet.
▸ Don't buy 12-fiber for a 4-fiber job 〞 loose bundles waste nothing, but spare fibers mean extra splice work.
Step 2 ﹞ Fiber Type
▪ G.652.D in stock 〞 standard single-mode, most economical.
▪ G.657.A1 in stock 〞 bend-improved, fully G.652-compatible; the FTTH default where trays coil tightly.
▪ G.657.A2 / G.657.B3 on request 〞 tighter bends (~7.5 / ~5 mm) for crowded trays and FTTR.
Step 3 ﹞ Buffer / Jacket
▪ 0.9 mm tight buffer standard 〞 the normal pigtail format inside splice trays (always tight buffer, not loose tube).
▪ 1.6 mm on request 〞 a thicker tight buffer for added bend / pull strength at the fan-out; made to order, not stocked.
▪ Jacket material 〞 PVC or LSZH 〞 is chosen to match your project specification and local fire rule.
Step 4 ﹞ Color Coding
▪ Single pigtails: yellow (single-mode standard).
▪ Bundles: standard 12-color (TIA-598); 4/8 ct use the first N colors.
▪ 24-fiber breakout: standard 12 colors plus black / white dot marks on the jacket to tell fibers 13每24 apart.
Step 5 ﹞ Connector / Polish
▪ SC/APC (green) 〞 FTTH default for splitter / wall boxes. LC/UPC for ODF / equipment. ST/FC for legacy; E2K on request.
▪ Keep the polish consistent with the panel / adapter; never mix APC with UPC on one link.

Q1. Single, color bundle or breakout 〞 which do I need?
Single for spares and one-off splices. Color bundle (loose) for routine splice-tray work 〞 4/8 for small boxes, 12 for ODF/MDU, and a 24 ct dot-marked loose bundle for economical in-tray 24-fiber termination. Choose the breakout with jacket when the bundle must exit the box or needs rugged protection, especially 24-fiber trays.
Q2. How are the 24 fibers told apart?
The breakout carries the standard 12 colors; fibers 13每24 use the same colors with black / white dot marks on the outer jacket, so each of the 24 ends stays unique.
Q3. SC/APC or LC/UPC?
For FTTH splitter and wall boxes, SC/APC is the default. Use LC/UPC when the panel / equipment is LC-based. Keep polish consistent across the link 〞 never mate APC with UPC.
Q4. 0.9 mm or 1.6 mm buffer?
0.9 mm tight buffer is the standard pigtail format inside splice trays. A 1.6 mm thick tight buffer is made to order only where extra pull / bend strength is wanted at the fan-out 〞 it is always tight buffer, not loose tube.
